A very strong Dungannon 2nd XV arrived in Deramore Park on a damp Friday evening, determined to continue recent winning ways against a decent Belfast Harlequins 2nd XV. The first 15 minutes were scrappy and fairly even with both sides adjusting to the conditions. After this however, the sizeable crowd in attendance were treated to 65 minutes of a remarkable display of powerful, accurate open rugby. In loose play, the forward pack were completely on top. Their aggressive ball carrying and accurate ruck clean out set the platform for the young halfbacks, Glackin and Holmes to run the show. By halftime it was 38-0. Two trys apiece from fullback Conroy and left wing A Lewis, along with touchdowns from prop Stockdale and the very impressive blindside flanker Jamie Gildernew. Fly half, Z Holmes kicking 4 conversions. The second half was more of the same. The work rate from the Dungannon XV, with and without the ball, along with the link up play from the back row of Gildernew, Miko and Nicholl was simply on a different level than their opponents. The lighting quick wing, A Lewis completed his hatrick early on. Not to be outdone, fullback Conroy followed suit soon after with an outstanding solo effort. Ten minutes later, Conroy was at it again, touching down with his fourth. To their credit, Quins never lay down and were rewarded with a converted touchdown with five minutes to go. Determined to have the last say, right winger A Lee touched down in the corner, after a wonderful break and pass from man of the match Conroy. Holmes managing two conversions in the second half, left the final score at 62-7.
